Same Old Signs

I walked by the old place
looking for new feelings, for
new things, for
new signs
saying that you’ve changed.

The brick still matches
the color of rust, of
corroded hopes, of
old hurts
that scream you’re stagnant.

Worse, the same old signs—
the former maybes—are
morphing into proofs of ever-rotted truth.

    1. I like that you said that. I've been looking at that line for a bit, and telling myself, "It sounds like dialogue. It should probably be dialogue."
