Rue Water Blessings

The last three weeks have been strange… Friends have lost friends… Sisters have pulled me into their nightmares and dreams—some of the night journeying hasn’t been all that pleasant, but two were wonderful enough to put a grin on my face and sexy high-heeled boots on my feet.

There is just a funk in the air…
a heaviness pushing shoulders to droop…
                                                                            forcing mouths to frown.

In times like this, when the days feel stuffy… when smiles are slow to come (and ellipses run wild) everyone can use a little mojo… a little something-something to conjure up the happies and banish the uglies.

Lucky for us, Three Cats and a Broom offers just what we need. Yep, my Wicked Luvs, our dear Jen is blessing All Hallow’s Grim 2013…So Good, So Dark with a bottle of her Rue Water.
“Rue is… protective as well an herb that bestows blessings. This spray can be used inside or outside on your doors, windows, or anywhere you’d like to infuse your space with the energy of this charming plant.”

  1. Wait... you take rue to lift a burdensome feeling? Hhm... counter-intuitive!

Maglay, you must come to Eugene Oregon sometime, and visit Mrs. Thompson's Celtic Herbalism. She is probably the best herbal healer on the west coast. Very wise. A true medicine lady!

    1. I use rue mostly for protection and increase of awareness. Why would trying to figure out the source of the "funk" while trying to stay protected from it be "counter-intuitive?"

  2. I would use the Peace and Unity Herbal Mist. I live in a complex and share a wall (on 3 floors) with a family under constant stress and in turmoil and it filters through. I find myself becoming stressed out and impatient with my daughter when that is not in my nature. Anything to help with that would be a blessing to me :)

  3. I have totally been under the funk this week. It feels like the space around me is too still. I am used to feeling energy swirls everywhere I go, especially as the full moon nears, but this week ugh! It has been a really creepy week, hoping the moon tonight will purge the dirge :D XXX

  4. Don't know how much protection it would give, but I would wear the sweetgrass braids all day everyday...they make me want to dance :D XXX

  5. Waaaaaah! I was going to buy a bottle in the event I didn't win it outright. Hell to the yes I feel the funk and I don't mean the kind that comes with a good base line and great hook. I always am cleaning out crap in October, making way to burrow deeper into my nest for the winter to come, but I feel like I need a backhoe to move this year's grunge, both metaphysical and actual (the kids have outgrown so many things!). I want the strewing herbs as well.

  10. I've definitely been feeling the 'funk' lately.
A dark cloud hovers above my head and a thick fog fills my heart.

I do like the sound of Three Cats and a Broom's 'London Fog' as it seems to reflect my mood perfectly.

And of course the 'Rue Water' would be just what we all need x

  12. So many people I know are feeling that sense of impending....something. It feels deeper than simple seasonal change, doesn't it? Dunno what that storm is, but battening down the hatches seems like a good idea.

I had to go look up rue, and found out the word comes from the Greek 'reuo', meaning 'to set free' because of it's healing qualities and protection against contagion. How cool is that - Rue Water, set me free!

Both the October Pie and the London Fog mists sound delightful!

    :) A'following we go....

    2. Oh, yes, about using rue for protection and to keep the uglies away. My grandma used to put rue on my forehead and say, "To keep the good thoughts in and the bad thoughts from infecting the good ones."LOL

  13. "Yes" on the "funk". But, I'm doing shadow work right now and that has a lot to do with it, I think. Autumn is when I feel most alive, weirdly, feeling most alive has to do with "the funk". For me, anyway.

That October Pie stuff........oh, my I think I need to get some o that!

    Following ya!

  14. I have been feeling this "funk" as well, like I'm sleepwalking aimlessly....no motivation or desire...no drive or purpose....
I like the sound of all the misters. October pie and Orange Blossom being my top 2 picks :)

Perhaps I just need some Mister with a capital 'M'...ifyaknowhatmean' *wink wink*

  15. The only funk I am feeling at the moment can be directly attributed to a particularly nasty cold. You know the the type... the kind that makes you want to cut off your own head before it lowers its nasty tentacles into your chest. In lieu of that drastic measure, I am drowning myself in herbal tea, honey and whiskey (emphasis on the latter).

This is my favorite time of year, and though it has been somewhat marred by my physical malady, I am eagerly preparing for Samhain and the enjoying festivities of the season.

I do experience the out-of-whack, something's-at-the-door feeling from time to time, so I'm familiar with the funk of which you speak. It's very draining and difficult to arm yourself against an unknown calamity. Maybe the Rue Water would be helpful for warding off the doom AND the germs...

The Sweet Sleep Bath Tea at "Three Cats" sounds so soothing and would be helpful on those Full Moon nights when I struggle to sleep.

Following Pagan Culture, with pleasure... aachoooo!

When I said my mind has been in other places and I have been listening to the Matrix sound track. I have been eating tones and feeling yucky!! But, I just went outside to see the moon and she is stunning ;o) I got a little spark ;o)

  27. Oh, yes, my darling, this past week has been heavy on the 'funk'.

It wasn't anything a bit of hex-work research, burning basil, and occult graffiti didn't cure, though. *Cackles*

  28. When I'm outside I feel light & like a handful of crisp leaves, caught in the wind (in a good way. ^-^)
But the atmosphere in our house is heavy and moldering and dank. When I'm home, I'm filled with weariness. Tidying my house is helping, but I think I'm going to have to do more than just scrub the floors and wash the dishes.

As for other goodies that pique my interest from Ms. Rue, I like her strewing herbs and I would probably benefit from giving her Skin Saver Salve a try... as I'm always getting little cuts and scrapes from who knows where. And mosquitoes LOVE me. @_@

    XOXO
