Keep Calm and Have a Bloodstone

When I was very young, I read a book about rehashed myths and legends from around the world. I can’t remember the title… but I will never forget my favorite story in the collection. It was about a young girl who was physically stronger than everyone around her. People admired her for it, and she loved to show off the power of her muscles.

The girl’s grandmother told her to keep the source of her strength secret from all ears and eyes. But, like I said, the kid loved the attention she got. One day she told her best friend that her power came from a hair comb adorned with a magic green stone, which had been kissed by her grandmother’s blood. The best friend—who was no friend at all—ripped the comb out of the girl’s hair while she slept. Yep, my Wicked Luvs, the girl-Hercules was left powerless. And you know how that story ends…

You probably also figured out that the girl’s comb was empowered by a bloodstone, also known as Heliotrope. Today’s second All Hallow’s Grim 2013… So Good, So Dark giveaway is not the girl’s herculean comb, but a lovely bloodstone pendant from Twinflame Studios. It is “wrapped in Sterling Silver and carved in a double-terminated style similar to Vogel cut crystals,” a shape which is said to increase the flow of energy (Strength, Prosperity, Calm, Vitality…).

  1. Hm. Well they are all beautiful but if I won, I'd love the Cascade in Blue and Red earrings. Turquoise and garnet are two of my favorite stones. I often need help with communication and staying grounded. So these would be perfect.

  2. Fluorite is my favorite stone and I have numerous spheres and points thru out the house. It calms me and helps to bring my chaotic live into order. But Bloodstone is a close second!

The other piece I like from Twinflame studios is the Antler & Damascus pendant 1. It just calls to me :)

    And I already follow you!

  8. I hold my hands up to having an addiction to stones and crystals of all kinds, from the humblest beach pebble to the rarest crystal. They all have their own individual songs they sing to me. My favourite can change through out the year. Dark stones always call to me though and my favorite is Obsidian that I'm obsessed with in all it's forms, it seems to haunt my dreams.

So many beautiful treasures at Twinflame but the one that calls to me is the Avalon. I've been working with Fluorite a lot during the summer, they are stones that hold hidden magic and I've always had a soft spot for Blue Lace agate it's so calming. The center piece of the wire wrapped Blue Lace geode is magical.

    I'm still wickedly stalking. :)

I can't name A favorite stone - tigers eye was my first love as a young child. I'm generally drawn to amethyst and opal, am very fond of amber and...bloodstone!

  10. To be honest I have to many favorite stones to name just one. So I will name my top three, and why they are. I love Aquamarine, I love to just gaze into it cause its like staring at water which is very soothing to me. I also love Amethyst because I feel so at peace holding it, and staring into a deep purple stone reminds me of staring at a nebula with all its glory. Finally the Bismuth Crystals, their appearance is just so alluring to me, and I have no clue why.

I have already followed Pagan Culture, and my favorite piece from TwinFlames is Atlantis. The name alone attracted me to it, and the appearance and shine is just so alluring to me. I would love to see this stone in real like since the owner even said the picture does it no justice.

  12. I visited her store and am drawn to the Summer Rose earrings....so pretty.
I don't have favorite crystals or stones in particular....but collect agates while beachcombing in Northern California. Finding one while sifting through sand and pebbles feels like the Earth has left a gift within my grasp :)

  13. I pretty much love all stones, from those freakin' big standing stones to the ones washed up on the beach, and ALL the glorious & precious (& semi-precious) ones inbetween... fav?? Maybe Thunder Eggs, Love the way you can break open this little plain boulder, and there can be a fairy castle inside, it's just awesome and one of nature's magical gifts to all :)

  19. I have quite a selection, including fossils picked from the beach and pebbles collected by my children. But when I want to send powerful energy I inevitably turn to my purple geode. When angled just so, it looks like a carving of a fish(I am Pisces), the inner face is shaped like a uterus, and I like to hold the flat side pressed against my 3rd eye. It burns against my skin with the icy chill of the dark it was formed in, while sparks of energy fizz from the crystalline centre. :D XXX

  30. You are a wicked, wicked woman for sharing this link with me, my darling Maggie.

Let's see... other than answering "I want them all!', the ones that immediately stole my heart were Atlantis (http://twinflame-studios.deviantart.com/art/Atlantis-203083743) and Ocean Earth (http://twinflame-studios.deviantart.com/art/Ocean-Earth-203078015).

As for favourite crystals, I seem to have an affinity with quartz (as can be seen by my collection of stones) because it comes in a variety of colours and is the largest component of sand from my favourite beaches.

  31. Do I have a favorite stone or crystal??? Are you kidding me?? You know who you are talking to, right? LOL! Now this is a hard questions, because I truly love them all the ones I have! It all depends on what I need, is what I meditate with, but I have to say, the one crystal I have, (that I showed on my blog), that is around 20 years old, would have to be my favorite crystal! She talks to me and I do hold her everyday!!
