Happy Bones

“Stacy turned Poe’s raven into a happy crow!” Those were the words that came to mind when I saw “Happy Bones,” Witches in Fiction 2013... to the Bones 7th giveaway, sponsored by Magic Love Crow. Anyone who has read Poe is probably thinking, Poe and happy can’t easily exist in the same sentence. Maybe hysterically exultant, but happy? No. Well, if you believe that, then you haven’t met my friend Stacy. She infuses happiness and tranquility into everything she touches. If you are the lucky Wicked Darling to take her art home, you will see just what I mean.

“Happy Bones” by Magic Love Crow

  6. Stacy's blog was so much fun! Love the song!
You put your rib bones in,
You put your rib bones outs,
You put your rib bones in,
Then you shake them all about
    You do the Hokey Boney,
    Then you turn yourself around,
    That's what its all about!

Dog gone it Stacy! These are the first words I remember after seeing your "Happy Bones" painting ... I've got Hokey Boney stuck in my head now and it won't go away!

Plus, the Hokey Pokey is my youngest granddaughter's favorite song. Everytime we have a family get together, she asks all to join with her and sing "her" song ... she is a special blessing we have been given. 8)

I really like Stacy's painting of the baby crows in the bird feeder ... we have several bird feeders hanging on our front porch and we love to watch the birds as they come and go. We have one favorite little humming bird we have named "No Tail Feathers" ... he is the smallest of the hummingbirds and he literally has no tail feathers, but he doesn't let that stop him ... he right in there with the rest of them! This painting reminds me of our dear, sweet friends...

I associate Happy Bones with All Saints Day and All Souls Day, those days in which you honor and remember those who have gone before you and the gifts they have left behind for us .... happy and loving memories, never to be forgotten as long as they are remembered.

    1. Well, you are not alone. I walked out of the bedroom singing The Hokey Boney... and dancing it, too.

"Happy Bones" made me think of The Day of the Dead, too. The way it is seen in many Hispanic culture--as a happy day when we celebrate the lives of those we loved who have gone forward. A day of color and sweet, of memories and laughter... of the yesterdays that work as the foundation of tomorrows.

My favorite item at Stacy's is the "Voice Within" which I own :) It speaks to me.

I associate the painting with the Day of the Dead which is November 1st in the Fall.

  9. "Oh my goodness that is so awesome! It's so happy and dancy and - "
That's the first 13 words that came to mind for me ;)

I love the colors and the bold-yet-wispy style... and because of those two things, I would pair this with the late Spring/early Summer - which it just so happens to be right now in southern Arizona!

"Dance" is my favorite painting on Magic Love Crow's etsy page (it's here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/128527679/crow-art-painting-dance-beautiful?ref=shop_home_active), because it was the first one that I couldn't find words for when I saw it. There's an emotion there that caught my words before they could form. Beautiful.

  11. Stacy's art is lurking through our home... why? Because it makes us smile, sometimes dare I say, BEAM, not often you can look at art at get a real essence behind what lurks there, and the creepy thing is... it's JOY, joy of life, joy of colour, joy of friendship, of nature, a celebration of innocence, youth, wisdom, myths, goddesses & the universe... 13 words... well all those, and in this case gotta add... BONES :)
