Cedar Wand

If you have the pleasure to know the sparkly goddess of Familiar Creations by Mina, then you probably love her as much as I do. I have no idea what it is about this lady, but her words and her crafts soothe the soul. She is sweet and true, and those feelings are contagious when coming from her. When I read her words, I feel like humming—okay, I do hum. And when my hands touch one of her wands (I own a couple), I grin like a moonstruck faerie. I have the feeling that the lucky winner of Witches in Fiction 2013… to the Bone’s 10th giveaway will enjoy some of same blissful magic:

Cedar Wand
“This one of a kind traditional tipped cedar wand measures approximately 12”, is hand carved and sanded with pureness of intent and lightly sealed to ensure a lifetime of the natural wood beauty.

Known as The Tree of Life to indigenous peoples, cedar is related to longevity, protection and preservation. Cedar wands cleanse negative atmospheres and are used to create sacred spaces as well as summon helpful spirits during rituals and invocations.

If you feel an affinity to this wand welcome it home, for it is the wand that chooses the owner. Your wand will be smudged with sage and wrapped with care prior to packaging.”
Here is what you need to do, for a chance to touch and keep 12 inches of cedar magic:
Leave me a comment, telling me how you believe that a wood wand might resemble a bone

  1. It is a beautiful wand.....the limbs of a tree are their structure for their leaves to attach to as our bones are there for our muscles to do the same :)

I visited Mina's Shop and just drooled over her painted Offering Gourd Bowls!

    1. "the limbs of a tree are their structure for their leaves to attach to as our bones are there for our muscles to do the same" I had to repeat those wonderfully touching words, for some truths should be said over and over until everyone realizes their value.

I think if we all remembered how trees are so similar to us, we would love them and care for them just a bit more.

And about the drooling, you are not alone...

  2. You are so very beautiful - from the inside out.
I think your gorgeous wand is like a bone - because it's part of the structure of a Cedar - and has become part of the structure of a new Thought, directed by One who creates.
    love & love,

  16. I love Mina and I love her wands! I have two ;o) But, I could have 3 ;o)
I presume that Mina, or is it her hubby that makes the wands? What I was going to say, is that I presume, that the cedar is taken from a dead tree. Or branch? And, then, made into this beautiful wand. It's like using the bones from a body, and making beautiful pieces out them. The wood, like the bones, are the strength, from within, that keeps us standing up ;o)

  19. Love Mina's things so much. Her Gourd Rattle is divine.

A wood wand resembles a bone because of it's smoothnes and strength.

If paper books are bones of trees than e-books are a link to the future.

  20. The wood is the bone structure, the framework of the tree that supports and channels the life inside, just as with bone inside an animal. And they do feel similar in the hand - the texture is very alike. But the energy is also similar; both alive and singing, or whispering, one with the voice of a plant and the other an animal, both derivative of the voice of the Mother, a smaller aspect of Her, but no less potent.

My favorite item of Mina's is one already sold - the offering bowl 1106, with the henna-like patterning 'round the rim.

If paper books are the bones of trees, then ebooks are… the bones of electric sheep. And I'm not making a joke of it... think about it. ;)

  21. "If paper books are the bones of trees, then ebooks are…”... the bones of the internets ;)

Actually, ebooks would be the bones of the mind - the mind creates them.

I've always thought of branches (and the wands that are made from them) as the bones of the tree. They just wear their bones on the outside.

I think the wand pictured here is the best-est. :)

  25. Been in BrisVegas but need to make a comment on this post - Mina is one of those souls who just by thinking about makes me feel like someone has wrapped me in a warm hand-knitted rug and handed me a freshly brewed cup of love. Reading her words, and feasting on her images are like bathing in rosé petals and the beauty she infuses her creations with leave me in awe, in my mind I have caressed her wands and held her beautiful gourd bowls in my cupped hands... Magic!
The wand resembles an extension of the fingers, as the fleshy arm narrows and leads into the wrist and skin covered and knuckled hand, the wand emerges like a natural bone extension from the body, a continuation of finger, a 'magic' boney extension to wield.

  26. Sticks and bones.... I am reminded of the version of Hansel and Gretel, where Hansel pokes out a thin stick each time he's asked to stick his finger out of his cage, to see if he's fattened up... but no, the nearsighted witch can see he is still nothing but bones, and lets him live and eat for another day....
