These last few months, my name has been in a lot of mouths. Some talkers are generous, and have said, “I’m so happy Magaly is leading with her heart” and “Magaly is brave and lucky for getting a third chance and kissing it right on the mouth.” Other comments have been impolite, uncalled for, and pretty much rotting with negative energy.
I wrote every single statement—the good and nasty alike—on a piece of black paper, and jotted the speaker’s name right next to it. Then I dropped them into a jar and covered everything with sweet, warm, thick honey. During the day, every time I remembered, I pictured the jar in my mind, and chant: “Words, like magic, are neither good nor bad; they are raw power waiting to be shaped and shared. I will good to become better, and bad to be cleansed into good.”
At sundown, I will add sage (for wisdom), rosemary (for protection), citronella (for purification), lavender (for peace), cinnamon (for power) and 13 tablespoons of water (for changeability) to the words and honey. Then I will brew the concoction over low flame, stirring counterclockwise, until the bits of paper start to fall apart and become part of the same mush.
Using a piece of clean cloth, I will separate solids from liquids. The fluids will go into a clean jar and set to cool until the witching hour, at which time I will offer them back to the Earth Mother. The solids will be laid out on a bowl or tray and set to dry. On January 13th, I will burn them: smoke to wind, ashes to soil. While this is taking place, in my mind, I will continue to chant: “Words, like magic, are neither good nor bad; they are raw power waiting to be shaped and shared. I will good to become better, and bad to be cleansed into good.”
Feel free to borrow my personal spell, my Wicked Luvs. Although, I recommend adapting it to fit your own needs. For instance, I use 13 tablespoons of water and 13 days before the burning because 13 is a very important number in my life. Maybe you want to change the number, or the herbs, or the day… and choose words that work for you. If mine do the job, by all means, use them in your chant. Let’s twist energy until it does what it likes to do best: change.
For those of you of the non-witchy persuasion, remember that a spell is a prayer with a flare, a mantra with ingredients… so give it a go, if you like. Make things true because you will them.
Because I’m trying to get better at hand jobs, I’ve taken three pomegranate teabags, a bit of paint, watered glue, strings from loving gifts, a black pen.... and bookmarked my words for one of you:
Let me know that you want the bookmark, and I’ll add your name to the giveaway.
Share your best words.
Be freaking happy about it.
Have a fantabulous New (Calendar) Year, my Wicked Darlings.
Come back after January 7th to check if you won ;-)
P.S. If you have a second, stop by Magic Love Crow and read “From Mama Crow and Me.” I believe Stacy’s words hold a great message to start the year by, and of course, while you are there bask in her smile and her colors.
