Cameron’s Raven Song

Raven Song by Cameron S. Reutzel
I was flying around Paint Myself Pretty when one of Cameron’s pieces grabbed me by the muse and made me want write in paint and sing in color. Raven Song is an amazing combination, isn’t? It makes me want to do all those things I’ve always thought I couldn’t do.

I love everything about the painting; and the quotes Cameron added to her song, are just perfect. See and feel…

Use what talents you possess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best.
— Henry Van Dyke

A few can touch the magic string, and noisy fame is proud to win them: Alas for those that never sing, but die with all their music in them!

    1. I love her art, her words, the way she speaks of her family--it is impossible not to completely adore Maggie through her mother's eyes.

Drag out the colors, my dear!

  3. Oh my goodness! Don't I feel so special right now!! *blush*
Thank you so much for your kind words about this piece. I did it as part of Tam LaPorte Collage, Paint and Soul class. There really is lots and lots of journaling under the layers that speaks of my insecurities and fears. I chose a raven for the totem animal because of their connection with introspection, comfort with the self and ability to find light in darkness.

I am so happy to hear that it has touched you and your readers as much as it has....tickled that I am inspiring others....heehee!
I'm on top of the world right now :)
    Thank you, again....

    1. Everything that comes through in this painting is wonderful. The reclaiming of self-trust, the beauty of nature, the great things we all hold inside, the music of the soul... so much, Cameron. I don't see how anyone can look at Raven Song without feeling that a bit of their soul has been caressed by truth and trust.

  4. I just visited Paint Myself Pretty. Cameron's artwork is lovely. I'm kicking myself for missing out on the Dream With Your Eyes Open give away. And the birthday party she organized for Maggie looked like loads of fun.

    1. Don't kick yourself too hard or you might be limping when we meet next week or so--I'm not carrying you, just so you know ;-)

Seriously now, it was a great giveaway and Maggie's birthday rocked, didn't it? I've been considering copying her outfit (don't tell her lol)

  8. I've been following Paint Myself Pretty for quite a while, but I must've missed this one. Love it! I really love the second quote, it sounds more like a song than a poem to me. :D thanks for sharing!

    1. I love the second quote, too. It made me sad to think that someone could die without singing their song.
