Traditional Witch Drowning in the Denial Cauldron?

I’ve spent the last few months contemplating that question, and finally decided that I am not a traditional Witch drowning in the denial cauldron; some things just work better in a particular way, and I need to take extra time to make my new ways work well with the old.

In this case the thing fighting modification is the way I share my magic. You see, I used to provide the following onsite services: commitment blessings, rekindling relationship rituals, banishing spells, and one-on-one magic through storytelling couching.

That kind of work requires travel, time, and space to concoct and charge ingredients and tools. Family, school and writing leave me little free time, and if you read Sex and Dark Moon Magic: Can’t Quit Witching, Part I, and Magaly’s Word Preserves: Can’t Quit Witching, Part II, you are aware of my space issues.

After a lot of thinking, and more pouting than I care to admit to, I thought I had found a way to merge two of the things I love most: writing stories and sharing my witchery. I was over the dark moon and dancing in stone circles, my luvs. I was going to launch Magaly’s Word Preserves—custom sensual wishes, rituals, and spells crafted as stories—through Etsy.

Well, I can’t…

Writing that kind of spells would take too much time, and offer no profit. If I were a rich Witch, I would do it for free, but I’m not; I don’t know what is wrong with my bills, but the bastards refuse to pay themselves.

I like interactive home blessings, and they take almost half a day (preparation of the home and dwellers), relationship rekindling takes a lot of couching, and banishing something nasty out of someone else’s home… yes, requires time, time, time.

So I won’t be able to provide Magaly’s Word Preserves… not until I can figure out how to make it work for me and for you. I’m not too upset though… I’ve been thinking, visualizing… I see words, herbs, intent… I smell the brew that infuses words with power… Something is definitely brewing in my witchy mind, and I think you are going to like it. I’ll share soon…
"Haunting" by Sunshineshelle. Wondering what these amazing ACEOs have to do with this post?
In truth, absolutely nothing. I just LOVE Shelle's work, and need no excuse to show it off.
I'm just hoping she never sues me for grabbing without asking *cough, cough*

  1. I completely understand what you mean.  I always have a handful of projects pulling at me, and I love helping others with spellwork/manifestation but it's exhausting and takes so much time!

Good for you, for knowing your limits - clever Witch!  Can't wait to hear what else you have in store.

    Cheers,

    Rue

  4. Too bad that the Etsy idea didn't work out, but I'm sure you'll think of something. You seem like a pretty resourceful witch. :)

Yeah, those bastard bills... *lol*. It's tough figuring out what you really need and want to do - but I think that is what makes our lives so special - there is not enough time to do *everything*, consequently the things we actually do decide to stick with become more precious.

  10. Love this post! My bills won't pay themselves either, and it's just annoying when they refuse to do that. I'm looking forward to seeing how you mesh the space and creativity together. I just know it's going to be a thing of awesome beauty!

  13. Well said. Our choices might not be a special if we don't put some thought into making them.

  18. Knowing me I will never be completely done with school. My relationship with college is like that of spouses who have been married forever: they fight and complain all the time, but it is just because there is sooo much love. I might stop going full time when I get a second Doctorate lol

  19. I know what you mean, and I"m living it too-in a different way.  You see, I was brought up in a coven. That first initial experience of the Craft and of magic shaped my view of it.  I'm gone from that town, and so is everyone else now (after a solid decade together). So...your issues of space are my issues of "whats in the space."  No other groups feel right, and the rituals I can do alone are wonderful..but not those artful, expressive events requiring multiple players.

Now you KNOW if you ever came up with a spell that made bastard bills pay themselves you'd never have to worry about paying one again, nor would anyone who 'bought' your 'banish bills' spell, ahh, just thinking, can you do sort of 'generic' spells (insert name here deal) not for anything really exact but just general, to attract luck, get aceos or things you really desire lol

Magaly, you can plaster my art on your blog anytime you charming woman of wickedness most high... I'd never sue you, UGGH, that would mean we'd have to pay lawyers & solicitors bills, and frankly they get way too much money as it is ;) So happy to see my ghosts on display (assuming they can be seen by all he he) and for goodness sake, get something for that cough ;)

  21. I spend my life in a battle between the projects that want doing and the ones that get me paid. If you ever figure out a way to make the witchy awesomeness work for the overhead, please share!

  22. "Banish bills spells" that sounds like the title of a hilarious short story lol. And yes, some people should think about the cost they are imposing on the people who "borrow" from them before they take them to court. Ha! I love it how you always make me laugh, Shelle. Um, the cough is better now ;-)

Those are lovely! And since you're showing off her gorgeous work, I'm sure she won't sue... probably.... ^_~

And as for your word preserves... It'll happen. Be patient & when everything's in place, it'll happen. =D

    XOXO

I am in the same boat, Miss Magaly. Lately I feel I am spread like butter over a very large piece of toast.  Way too thin! And the bills? Sigh, yes they are dirty bastards, aren't they?

I love the idea of your word preserves and perhaps the thought of that will birth another creation which works better within your life schedule. Most things I start the first time I never complete and I find it was just a practice for the true results. You keep flowing with the cycle as there is truly witchery in the air! Hugs, my sweet friend.

  27. I was saying the same thing to my Piano Man last night, I will plot in my head and wait until the idea is strong enough to be made a reality. I know I'll do Magaly's Word Preserves one day, but for now, I'll focus on something a bit smaller. I'm trying to have it ready for the end of October ;-)

I'm sure you'll come up with something that doesn't take so much time ( dang, I know what ya mean!), Magaly, words and herbs, that sounds tempting! I love these aceos from Shelles blog too! I think she has started something with these and her "spirit" girls! I love her art too!!! Deb

Yeah, wth is up with bills anyway, they think we owe them or something!! I don't blame you, frankly. I'm not even sure I can conjure up the time for my own magic, let alone something for someone else. You amaze me. :)
