Witchy Wit and Wisdom… Creepy

“There is something creepy about that boy, Nhumrod thought. It was the way he looked at you when you were talking, as if he was listening.” Small Gods by Terry Pratchett

Simple, but true, isn’t it? Some people can easily surprise others when they do exactly what they are expected to do. I’m sharing this quote because it is full of witchy wit and wisdom... and because I laughed like a loon the first time I read Nhumrod’s name. I’m giggling right now. Teeheeheehee!

  1. Yes!! It is always a shock when people do what they say they will. Or when objects behave in the manner with which they were created.
    Nice surprises indeed!!

  2. That's for sure! Too many just aren't accountable at all these days. I've known a few Nhumrods in my day! lol

  3. Follow through....surely not. Isn't that against the law of the land????? Oh I could wax poetic all day long about no one looking you in the eye and doing what they say....but why, right???
I am sorry for the lack of commenting here as of late. But know we feel what you are doing. Know you love us as much as we love you and think about you every day as we commit ourselves to the work at hand. smooches and squoozes, Oma Linda

  5. I've had friends that told me that they needed to talk, then they get nervous when I actually listen. They stare at you and say, "You going to say something?" My answer is, "No...you are the one talking." Is it that strange?

    Nhumrod...love it!

  6. That has always been one of my personal favorites from him. I love the way Om keeps trying to smite things at first, lol.

  7. SueAnn - We are weird creatures.

Tamara - You just made me roar!

Linda - No apologies needed, my dear. We all have lives that need us to live them. But I'm so glad to read you here ;-)

Wizardess - I can't wait to get SNUFF. I'm so excited that I'm rereading Tiffany's books again. Not that they are related or anything, but you know I love the young hag ;-)

Zombie Goddess - I think people need to be clear and mean it too. I can't stand when someone asks for my opinion and then I say something they don't like and they get mad. Same goes when you just need someone to listen, without trying to save the world, but they don't see it. And Nhumrod is hilarious!

The Traveler - Small Gods is my Terry Pratchett favorite and one of my favorite books of all times. And oh my small gods lol Om's must-smite-rampage is legendary. And what about his trip to the temple, and his war with the bird... so many great moments!

  9. Gotta love the Pratchett books! And some of the names he comes up with... Awesome!

It's always surprising when people actually do what they're meant to. Thing is though, it shouldn't be. Just goes to show the state the human race has gotten itself in to when something as simple as someone actually listening to you properly is a shock.

  10. The Frog Queen - Yay, always a pleasure.

Toriz - I can hardly wait for Snuff, Pratchett's latest, and you right the human race is very strange.

  11. Love the name ;o) Isn't it too bad, that we think it's weird, if someone does exactly what they are expected to do? We are expecting the person to act opposite or lie, not be them.
Oh, I love the cat beside your name ;o)))

  12. I added the cat because a little baby crow I love told me my name looked kind of naked ;-) I like the kitty too, and the Skully Crow Daisy banner will go up for All Hallow's Eve. I have to start thinking about banners for the rest of the year *wink, wink*

  13. Someone had parents with a warped sense of humour!!! Is it just me who had their mind in the gutter reading that name??

  14. I doubt it is you; I thought the same thing, hence the giggles. Pratchett doesn't do anything by accident, and considering that the priests of Om have to stay celibate in order to save the mean little god, Nhumrod sounds like a very appropriate name.
