Inspiring Music from Magickal Earth

Do you listen to music while you write, read or study? I can’t. When I do, I end up creating little stories about the characters in the songs, or about the way the tunes make me feel. Music claims its own time in my life. My playlists are labeled: PT (physical training), ritual, cleaning, annoyed, pissed, dancing, me-music… The last is a combination of every song I love. I just added two CDs to that playlist:

1. Spirits of the Forest by France Ellul, featuring GOVANNEN – you (and by you, I mean me) don’t have to know much about music for these songs to take you to a different world. I started listening while in bed, with my eyes closed, but soon had to get up and start twirling about the place.

2. Moon Chants by Marie Bruce, featuring Llewellyn and Juliana – this one made me feel witchy! I saved it in both my Ritual and Me-Music playlists. “Earth, Moon, and Sun” put me in the middle of a circle of friends. They were playing and singing for me; I was dancing for them.

Guess what, my Wicked Darlings? Magickal Earth, the distributor of these melodic treats, is giving you the chance to feel witchy, twirl in the forest, or experience your choice of emotions through music and spoken word. Their CDs feature some of the best work of international known artists such as Cassandra Eason, Marie Bruce, Vince Price, Alicen-Geddes Ward and Llewellyn. The music is inspiring and the spoken word is empowering.

And two of you will be inspired, empowered—or both—by one of the two CDs that enthralled me!

This is all you need to do to join the fun:
- Visit Magickal Earth, pick your favorite item, and come back here to tell me why you like it.

  1. Ooh, I love inspiring music!! Always on the look for new tunes to lose myself in. I do, however, listen to music while I draw, write, etc. it helps in the sense that if I'm really into what I'm creating I won't even hear the music and like half a dozen sings will skip by and I won't have heard a one of them, it's kind of odd but I hate absolute silence hehe

My favourite would be FaerieLore - Journey to the Faerie Ring...I don't think I need to explain why, but it makes me want to pop it all on my MP3 player and go for a long skip through the woods :D

heehee Thanks for the comments!! The dress on the dancer is actually almost fully inspired by my 'future wedding dress' from this cool website: http://faerywedding.com/

  5. OK, Checked out the ghost hunting, loved that accent ;) the aura thing... mmmm when I was young I saw auras on many, actually many many, as a matter of fact I thought Sister Anna my year 6 teacher at school was a saint, the reason being that I had seen artists interpretations over the ages of saints with 'halos', (and of course I collected holy cards) Sister Patricia's aura was sooo bright, I just assumed she was a saint, and I assumed artists (and one of the only things this chubby kid could do OK at school was draw) could obviously see this (I checked with my other sweet geek friends but they confessed they couldn't see 'the glow' as I called it)... so the aura thing, 'teaching' someone, very interesting not sure if that'd work, I'd love to know... but what really appealed was Oracle Card 1, just appealed (dumb answer right LOL)... I listened to the tranquil bird songs but must admit, I'm used to screeching parrots & loud raucous kookaburras outside, that sweet twitter was wonderful but a little unnerving for an Aussie ;) (why are they so sweet & melodic LOL)... I have a feeling maybe I didn't answer anything right here, and now I'll have to prove I'm not nuts LOL! Truth is, maybe it's that moon that entrances me on the Oracle Card 1 ;) Love the fact it's all exploration & good positive vibes Magickal Earth distributes too :)

  6. Most of the time, there is music playing in the background while I work/write/study. It seems my brain can't concentrate on just one thing, and I have to sooth the "inner brat" by playing music. At the office, this can be difficult since the colleague and I have totally different tastes in music, but that's why the Gods invented the MP3 player (only for really bad days, most of our time together is spent talking and being silly).

Most stories I've written have their own special soundtrack. Whole manuscripts were born from a single song, which was playing over and over while I wrote them. And if everything else fails and I am deep into writer's block country, I can always listen to Queen to get the story going. Which is strange, but I don't question my muse's taste in music...

  26. I cannot listen to music while I write because I get lost in the music and cannot concentrate on what is in front of me.

Each of these have their own wonderful appeal but I think my favorite is Spirits of the Moon because it speaks to my soul and takes me to that special place within.

  42. Lilac SilverWolf - I know what you mean; I always have something going on in my head (even during journaling) I truly wouldn't know how to handle complete silence.

Shelle - I think you answer a lot of questions and gave us a lot of information. I would have loved to be able to see auras as a child, but no just gonners and they usually weren't pretty. Today, I can see auras while in ritual, but I really have to get myself "there". I see them when I'm extremely tired too, which is the only time when I'm not plotting what to write or thinking how to do this or that...

Diandra - It is funny how the things that move us are the ones that become attached to our craft. My stories have no soundtrack, but they have a color and a plant... okay, they also have a weapon ;-)

Lilac Wolf - I just reread your comment and I'm, again, singing "Give a little bit..." lol

Judy - I'm listening to "Spirits of the Forest" right now ;-D

Mina - Me too!!!!! thanks for making me feel a bit normal ;-) I just think about the words too much and the melody takes me away, so the writing can't happen with the tune.

Linda - My life is better because of your influence. I'm telling you, I'll get to NM one of these days and we'll party until dawn!

Dragonfly - We were listening to Louis Armstrong during a Harlem Renaissance class and we stayed an hour after the class was over; no one really noticed the time. Yep, we were that deep into his tunes!
