Witches in Fiction – Pagan Culture’s 2nd Blogoversary Party

Pagan Culture is going to be 2-springs-old, on May 1, 2011. Can you believe it? I know! I can’t either. I had been thinking about ways to celebrate the occasion, then the other day a ghost blogging request gave me an idea. A client needed a post that discussed the real-life traits of witches portrayed in fiction. I had a blast writing the ghost post, and the client was “more than pleasantly surprised”.

When I got paid for the job I told myself (Actually I told my Piano Man): I’ve gotten several ghost writing and ghost blogging jobs because of Pagan Culture. And considering that my Wicked Darlings are the ones who fuel my inspiration to blog, it is only fair that I share some of the profits with them. Not too much though, because I might love them and all, but I’m the one doing all the freaking work! Just kidding…

Jokes aside, I wish to celebrate Pagan Culture’s 2nd Blogoversary with a blog party, themed Witches in Fiction, and a few giveaways.

Thanks a bunch for your help with the party planning. I like both Etsy and Amazon, and choosing one over the other would have been stressful. You made my life easier by letting me know, through your votes, that you wanted three $20.13 gift certificates from Etsy.

We’ll party from April 13th to May 1st, 2011.

Now to the most important bit about this post: would you like to join the party? If you do, please leave me a message on this post with a link to your blog, and I’ll add your cyber home to the Witches in Fiction Guest List.

I’ll keep you updated. Go ahead and grab the party button from the sidebar, spread the word, and on April 13th we’ll party my Wicked Darlings!

  1. Okay, don't blast me for this but...how do we know if we are "witchy" enough lol?

  2. Good Morning Lady...Looks Good!!! I think Etsy is better than Amazon as it supports the small business person such as so many of us are...those hand made in USA type things...such fun to shop there also...Just my thoughts...

  3. Button grabbed. This sounds like so much fun! I'd personally like an amazon gift card (I have such a list of books and no credit card lol) but an etsy one would be cool too as handmade home businesses are so interesting and fun to support!

Don't think I can donate this year, but will definitely be joining in the partay! hehe

Oh, and on a side note, working on an idea for the 113words hehe So hard to crop it down lol

  4. Penny - my love, zombies are witchy enough.

Judy - So glad you liked it! I'm very attached to this image, as you might have notice. I think it speaks about the kind of Witch I am.

SilverFox - Hooray! You are the first party guest! I'll add your name in a bit. And about writing 113 words stories, I think I've said before that they are a great revision exercise. We need to make every precious word count.

  5. hehe Why thank you! Yes, they are for sure, I'm horrible at short stories so we'll see how this goes hehe

Oh, and http://wiccanwaysilverfox.blogspot.com/ is the one to be using for this event. My writing one won't really be active for another month lol

  6. I'm sure you'll do just fine, and probably have some fun while you are at it. I was writing 6 words stories in class. They were terrible, we only had a minute, but it was fun!

  7. My thought is for ETSY too!! It definitely supports small business/artisans!!

  8. I'm grabbing the button, but you don't wanna read anything I write. I might be able to blog.....loosely.....but, I can't write stories for the life of me.

Chester the cat said, "That's right, Mags. She sucks."

And, then LJ went back to adding toad stools to her cauldron.

  9. SueAnn - Indeed.

LJ - I think you write great stories. Your prose is quirky, engaging and freaking hilarious. Or dark, very dark at times. This won't be a fiction writing extravaganza; at least I don't mean for it to be. We'll discuss and celebrate witches in fiction from an angle we enjoy (that sounds kinky lol) For instance, what is one of the greatest writers of realistic fictional witches ever? Okay, so I might be biased when saying that it is Terry Pratchett, but the point is that you can come up with anything: a book review, cool pics about your favorite witchy movies, anything having to do with witches and witchcraft in fiction is fair game. I think I know what the Update #2 will be about.

Chester! Stop being such a mean jerk. Wait, you are a cat; never mind.

My Wicked Darlings are so inspiring ;-)

  26. Dear Magic Love Crow - You can post about anything witchy as long as it relates to fiction. And you can post as many times (or few) as you like. I'll write a digest post every three days or so, to send Wicked Darlings your way.

I'll write an entire post about this in a few days. Great question, thanks for asking!

  39. I'd love to join the party! On the subject of witches in fiction, I'd like to share something that I recently discovered. As a practicing witch myself, I've collected a lot of books over the years, in particular vintage books with some crazy and ridiculous ideas about witches. I opened a copy of "Witches" by Olga Hoyt, to discover that the previous owner has circled (only) the paragraphs about how to tell if someone's a witch.....by torturing them! Talk about creepy.....

Anyway, my blog is here: http://rubytombstone.blogspot.com/
